"Cairo Chamber” calls for counteracting the speculators in rice production areas

El Basha Idris,the Division’s head of the Importers of Agricultural Crops and cereals at  Cairo Chamber of Commerce, said that the Government should counteract the speculators in rice production areas, saying “the Government must  take the utmost measures in rice production areas where the warehouses and speculators there; to prevent the occurrence of crisis in rice which is similar to sugar Crisis.

 

He added that the stores in rice production areas contain within thousands of tons of rice for speculating and creating crisis in the market, pointing to the high price of a ton of rice from 5 000 to 7 000 pounds during the current period, and rice reached to 7 pounds per Kilo after it had been 5 pounds per Kilo from 40 days ago.

 

Also he condemned the campaigns on Rice wholesalers in markets to confiscate the rice they have, saying that this act would make shopkeepers to stop buying rice and consequently crisis in the markets would appear.
