The Trade and Industry Ministry is expecting to receive soon a list of products that are customs-exempt under Egypt’s freetrade agreement with Mercosur countries, which should be coming into effect in a few days’ time. The list should include 2,535 products. The agreement was signed in 2011 but picked up momentum recently after Argentina’s parliament approved it last month.
Ministry of Commerce and Industry sources revealed that the agreement will be applied during 4 stages to abolish customs duties on the movement of trade between Egypt and the countries of Mercosur to allow the Egyptian industries adapting to full liberalization and not to be negatively affected, especially in the priority industries of Egypt such as chemical and food industries, Electrical appliances, feeder industries and cars.
