The General Division of Building Materials at the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce expected the decline in cement prices in the beginning of next year due to the increase in production and  coinciding with the opening of 6 production lines in the Beni Suef Cement factory  of the National Service Project  with a production capacity of 11 million tons annually, Al Arish Cement, which reaches a production capacity of about 6 million and a half tons per year to bring the new production to 17.5 million tons annually, which will have a positive impact on cement prices, and leads to balance in prices in the market as a result of oversupply, Ahmed El Zeiny, Cairo Chamber’s Board Member  and Head of the Division stated.

He pointed out that the price of cement is currently between 750 and 800 pounds per consumer and that the trade movement is slow in the construction sector because of the increase in iron prices. He pointed out that the local market consumption of cement reaches 60 million tons annually and local production reaches 63 million tons which means that domestic production is sufficient to meet the requirements of the market. He also pointed out that no quantities of cement have been imported since the middle of 2016 until now. This confirms that with the beginning of the increase in cement production at the beginning of next year there will be a surplus that can be exported to abroad.
