The Cairo Chamber of Commerce, headed by Mr. Ayman El-Ashry, received a Syrian delegation representing the General Company for the Manufacture and Marketing of Cement and Building Materials “Omran,” affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry. The visit aimed to hold an expanded meeting with members of the Chamber to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the building materials sector.
The meeting was chaired by Major General Salah El-Abd, on behalf of Mr. Ayman El-Ashry, Chairman of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, and was attended by Mr. Mohamed Sami, Assistant Treasurer of the Chamber, along with a number of Board members: Mr. Mohamed Mehran, Dr. Mohamed Manzour, Mr. Ihab Said, Mr. Ahmed El-Wessemy, and Mr. Ahmed Abdel Hamid.
Also participating were Mr. Ahmed El-Zeiny, Head of the Building Materials Division; Mr. Ahmed Shereen, Head of the Investment Committee at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Mohamed Tammam, Secretary-General of the Chamber and Chief Executive Officer; and Mr. Magdy Abbas from the Building Materials Sector, in addition to a number of company owners operating in the building materials sector who are members of the Chamber. The Syrian delegation was headed by Mr. Mahmoud Hassan Fadila.
During the meeting, officials of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce reviewed the comprehensive development and growth Egypt is witnessing across various fields, particularly in infrastructure, transportation networks, ports, and national mega-projects, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as well as the strong support provided by the Egyptian political leadership to investment and investors across all sectors. The Chamber also highlighted Egypt’s strength in building materials production and its ability to export to many countries, welcoming increased cooperation between Egyptian and Syrian companies in this sector and others.
Major General Salah El-Abd welcomed the Syrian delegation, conveying the greetings and warm welcome of Mr. Ayman El-Ashry, who is currently abroad. He emphasized that the Chamber strongly supports the development of Egypt’s external economic relations in general, and Egyptian-Syrian economic relations in particular, describing them as historical and distinguished.
For his part, Mr. Mahmoud Hassan Fadila, Head of the Syrian delegation, expressed his pleasure at visiting the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, praising the remarkable development boom taking place in Egypt, and affirming that the visit represents an important step toward opening new horizons for joint economic cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, Mr. Ayman El-Ashry stressed the importance of intensifying economic cooperation between Egypt and Syria during the coming period, noting that this visit represents a rapid and practical translation of the outcomes of the recent visit by the delegation of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce to Syria. He added that it aims to open new areas of cooperation across various economic activities and to encourage increased partnerships between Egyptian and Syrian companies in different fields.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between an Egyptian company and its Syrian counterpart to launch joint cooperation in the building materials sector in the coming period, contributing to the support and strengthening of bilateral economic relations between the two countries.
