Alexandria Chamber organizes course on the export of food products to the European Union

Within the framework of the 5th BSO Cooperation & Mentoring Program CEEBA in cooperation with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and the German-Arab Chamber of Industry & Commerce will hold a two-day workshop will be held on the 27thand 28th  of August at the premises of Alexandria Chamber of Commerce on

 

“EXPORTING AGRO-FOOD PRODUCTS TO THE EUROPEAN UNION”

 

Ahmed Al-Wakil, head of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers, vice president of «ASCAME», in a statement said that the session carried out by experts from the Dutch Union of Chambers, the German-Arab Chamber, the Union of European Chambers, and the Alliance of Euro-Mediterranean Unions.

 

Al-Wakil confirmed the importance of this sector because the EU imports reached more than 260.113 million euros for food and agricultural goods, with an annual growth rate of 5.6%, which is more than 6.6% of total EU imports.

 

He noted that although this figure is modest, the growth of exports to the European Union has grown since the signing of the partnership agreement with an annual average of 3.6%, and rose between 2014 and 2015, to 10.4%, explaining that vegetables represent 33% of our exports, fruit 21% and citrus 11%, and 4% for each of the potatoes, sugar and processed meats.

 

For his part, Dr. Alaa Ezz, Executive Board Member of the Alliance, and Chief Executive of both  Egyptian and European Federations of Chambers, said that «Euromed Invest II» program, funded by the European Union with a total 310 million euros, and lasts three years, and  used to organize many events in various European Union and the South  of Mediterranean Sea countries for the development of investment and trade exchange through 127 activity like  organizing investment and trade delegations for more than 4,500 companies, And funding for participation in exhibitions in both sides of the Mediterranean sea, and providing  feasibility studies to attract investments and promotional activities and mechanisms for networking between investors, which aims to achieve a 1000 joint venture. The program also includes raising the efficiency of 1,000 entrepreneurs and businesswomen, and training more than 900 Chambers’ staff and unions.
