Egypt is the target market for many of the international companies operating in the area of food products where Egypt imports 60% of food products, according to the data of the Central Agency for Mobilization and Statistics and is the largest consumer market in the Middle East.

 

The countries of Latin America representing 40% of Egypt's imports of food, Brazil represents 27% of the total imports, Egypt imported meat products at amount exceeds 2 billion dollars annually.

 

Egypt imports about 10% WHEAT from USA, followed by the state of the Netherlands 6%, then Germany 5%, Thailand, and 4%, the United Arab of Emirates 3%, Switzerland 3%, and France 2%.

The European Union is the main supplier of basic raw materials for food industry in Egypt, such as milk powder, starch, butter, meat, sugar and Flavors, as well as finished products.

 

And for the African continent, there are key places of supply, especially in the protein sector, for example Ethiopia is the first supplier of meat to Egypt, followed by Sudan, while the rest of the Arab countries its food exports to Egypt vary between the nuts and dried fruits products, some fruit, and corn and wheat types.
