Today, the "Developing and Expanding Egyptian Exports to International Markets" forum was held, organized by the Cairo Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Arab Federation of Customs Brokers and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. The event was attended by Major General Salah El-Abd, Treasurer of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, alongside board members Sayed Abou Qomsan, Ahmed El-Wasimi, and Ihab Said. Also present were prominent figures from various trade sectors, including Engineer Sameh Zaki, Head of the Exporters Division, and Ahmed Abdel Wahid, Head of the Customs Clearance Division, in addition to a large number of company owners from various industries.
The forum’s agenda featured an opening session with a welcoming address by Ayman Ashry, President of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Ahmed Nizar Jameel, Director of Economic Integration at the Arab League. The event was also attended by Mr. Bernardo Henrique Ben, Deputy Ambassador of Brazil, and Ambassador Ashraf Mounir, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for South American Affairs.
In his keynote speech, Ayman Ashry expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian political leadership, particularly President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, for his continuous support for Egyptian exports. He highlighted the government's efforts to diversify export channels and open new markets for Egyptian products internationally.
Cairo Chamber’s Chairman emphasized that exports are one of the main sources of foreign currency for Egypt and noted the significant rise in export volumes in recent times. He pointed out that the government is progressing swiftly and steadily in implementing its strategy to increase exports and boost the national economy. Furthermore, he praised the extensive efforts made by the state to support this strategy through the development of production sectors, removal of obstacles, and improvement of product quality to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian goods in foreign markets.
The first session included discussions on free trade agreements and how to maximize their benefits for exports. This included a focus on the facilitation and promotion of trade between Arab countries, as well as agreements like Mercosur and the opportunities and advantages they present. Additionally, there was a presentation on the growth of Egyptian exports to Africa.
The second session featured presentations on the facilitation measures offered by the Egyptian Customs Authority and the General Organization for Export and Import Control. Discussions also covered the vital role of the customs clearance sector in boosting Egyptian exports. Moreover, the session shed light on Egypt's export support programs, which aim to stimulate and increase the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets. The Exporters Division of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce presented its vision on how to leverage these facilities and programs to support exporters and expand export activities.
At the conclusion of the forum, participants were given the opportunity to present their insights and inquiries, fostering an open discussion on ways to enhance Egypt's exports in international markets.
