Eng. Ibrahim El-Araby, chairman of Cairo Chamber of Commerce, assured that the prices in Egypt are still lower compared to neighboring countries. He pointed out that the rise in commodity prices in the markets is the consumer's responsibility foremost because he followed the culture of “Plenty and kilo" in the purchase, this is more than his real need, lead to a shortage of supply of goods, and ultimately the prices increase in the end.

El-Araby demanded to tighten control over customs outlets to stop the smuggling of goods abroad, which harms the interests of consumer, producer and the Egyptian economy.

He said that the dollar is not solely responsible for the recent price increases but the problem is in incomes and production and not only a price problem, and then we import more than 60% of our consumption, which exposes us to world price changes and currency rates Fluctuations, therefore the imports reduction led to scarcity, local products competitive declined and the Prices rose.
