Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, Minister of housing, utilities and urban communities economic group meeting in the presence of Ministers of international cooperation and investment, planning, tourism, finance, trade, industry, and the public business sector.

The meeting reviewed the proposals for ways to reduce imports of goods that have an Egyptian peer; to reduce the deficit in the trade balance and the proper use of hard currency to import products that serve economic activity and contribute in increasing production and promoting national industry.

The Prime Minister directed the relevant ministries to study the import items of various commodities and propose measures to reduce the importation of non-essential goods that have a local equivalent. He stressed that the investment climate in Egypt has become attractive after economic and financial reforms.

Nader Saad, the Spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, said that the meeting dealt with the strategy of the comprehensive development of the Egyptian customs system within the framework of the plan of the Ministry of Finance to implement them in this regard. The Minister of Finance in coordination with all ministries and concerned authorities to develop an urgent plan to improve the system of customs release, including the establishment of a unified office in each Customs house representing the various entities involved in the analysis of import samples, in order to Accelerate and shorten those actions.

The spokesman added that the meeting discussed the offers made by some international companies to promote investment in Egypt.

The Prime Minister also demanded an urgent report on the problems facing the investment free zones from the Minister of Investment, so that a meeting can be held with the ministries and stakeholders to find immediate solutions to these problems.
