Egypt and China to increase the bilateral investment and trade exchange rates.

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed his hope for more direct Chinese investment in Egypt and increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, praising the great development in joint economic and investment cooperation in the light of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between both countries.

 

 

During his meeting with Yang Jiechi, the Chinese president's representative and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the president referred to Egypt's efforts in terms of economic reform, creating an attractive environment for investment and implementing national projects, especially the development of the Suez Canal.

 

 

El-Sisi noted the importance of the African continent as a large market, which seeks to enhance its capabilities. He pointed out that he is keen to benefit from the Chinese expertise in the field of infrastructure to help in implementing Egypt's vision for development in Africa.

 

 

Ambassador Bassam Rady the Presidential Spokesman said that “Yang” conveyed a message to el-Sisi from his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, including the invitation to participate in the summit of the Belt and Road for International Cooperation Forum, which determined to be held in Beijing next April.

 

 

Yang stressed on his country's keenness to intensify cooperation with Cairo, in the light of Egypt's regional and international role and its strategic position as the heart of the Middle East, which opens the horizons for cooperation between the two sides, at both bilateral and multilateral levels.

 

 

The meeting reviewed the regional and international issues, especially the crises in the Middle East and fighting against terrorism. The meeting was attended by Eng. Amr Nassar, Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister Abbas Kamel, director of the General Intelligence Service, and the Chinese ambassador in Cairo.
