Digital Economics Division Launches Retail Automation Initiative

The General division of Digital Economy and Technology at the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce (CCCI), in a statement on Tuesday, launched the first phase of “Tawteen” initiative, in cooperation with ITIDA.

 

 

Engineer Khalil Hassan Khalil, Head of the Division, said that the division launched the first phase of “ Tawteen” initiative, which aims to provide technological solutions through the member companies of the Division to automate the shops and retail chains in the various governorates with more than 400,000 outlets.

 

 

He added that the Division carries out this initiative in close cooperation and continuous coordination with the ITIDA and the Egyptian banks.

 

 

Khalil added that the initiative aims at pumping millions of pounds into the local market for the benefit of companies working in the field of the Egyptian technology industry, helping to develop domestic demand and achieve the vision of Egypt 2030 in developing the internal trade system. He continued: "Work on this project began more than a year ago to provide the necessary funding and provide innovative solutions for traders to serve their business and develop their profits through the localization of technology, targeted in the first phase, 5,000 traders in the Republic.

 

 

Mohamed Azzam, Executive Director of the Division of Digital Economy and Technology, said that Egyptian companies working in the field of manufacturing and supplying computers and their operating accessories of all kinds and also Companies working in the development of applications and companies specialized in providing technical support, training and maintenance are currently being rehabilitated.

 

 

He added that the qualification is through Conditions Handbook that was put forward through the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, allowing all companies in different activities and sizes and location to contribute to the initiative.

 

 

More than 200 Egyptian technology companies are expected to participate in the project, creating more than 3,000 new jobs for young people in the sector, Azzam said
