The role of standards in the fourth industrial revolution

The World Standards Day focuses this year on the role of standards in the fourth industrial revolution, and its role in the transition to a new era of emerging technology in the fields of Robotics and artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, Internet of things, 3D printing, Autonomous vehicles.

 

All these topics were discussed during activities of the World Standards Day conference, organized by the Egyptian Organization for standardization and quality marking, in the presence of Eng Ahmed Taha, Assistant of Minister for industry, the Conference is held under the slogan " International Standards and the Fourth Industrial Revolution" that "Launched by the International Organization for Standardization ISO, the International Telecommunication Union ITU, and the International Elerctrotechnical Committee IEC.

 

Cairo Chamber of Commerce attended the Conference as a member of the national technical Committee corresponding to the International Committee «ISO/PC 277», that prepared drafts of ISO,20400 «for sustainable procurement practices", which were issued in April of last year, to ensure that the publication Detrimental to the interests of Egypt and Arabic countries economically and commercially.

 

Eng Ashraf afify, Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for standardization and quality during the opening Activities stated that the Organization for standardization and quality works in cooperation with the standardization bodies all over the world through sustainable partnerships with various international and regional organizations. He added that the total standard specifications issued by the Organization so far approximately 9100 standards.

 

Eng Ahmed Taha, Assistant of Minister for industry pointed out, during the opening of the event, on behalf of Eng Amr Nassar , the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Ministry is keen to cooperate with all regulatory agencies in various Customs to tighten technical inspections of goods, to ensure conformity with Egyptian standards before entering the market .
