Egypt adopts digital technology strategy (Seamless 2019)

The Central Bank of Egypt concluded for the second consecutive year the conference of the Financial Technology Conference "Seamless North Africa in cooperation with the Council of Arab Economic Unity, the League of Arab States and the United Bank Institute, in the presence of Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, also with the active participation of more than 1,400 international and local participants, Experts and speakers of the most important specialists in the fields of financial technology, payments and e-commerce.

 

 

At the beginning of his speech, the Prime Minister welcomed the participants, pointing out that in the past five years Egypt has witnessed a qualitative leap in the visions, ideas and plans aimed at achieving integrated economic reform. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the conference, which comes at the right time,and the initiative of President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi to adopt development plans for this promising continent, in parallel with the presidency of Tariq Amer, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, to the Association of African Central Bank Governors. 

 

He stressed that the Egyptian government believes in the importance of continuous development of financial and banking services to make it easier and faster. "We are confident that financial technology is the means to achieve this in the light of its ability to achieve a breakthrough in the efficiency and effectiveness of financial and banking services

 

 

The role of new technologies and strategies, their ability to provide better service to citizens and consumers across the Arab world, and the challenges facing Egypt's financial technology in microfinance and microcredit, cross-border payments and remittances, data analysis, artificial intelligence for retail banking, And credit score for small and medium enterprises" he said.

 

 

For his part, Mr. Tariq Amer, Governor of the Central Bank, said that the Central Bank is keen to keep abreast of the changes in global technology, which allows Egypt to move quickly to keep abreast of rapid developments in the field of financial technology and to promote the technology industry, to provide banking services to citizens at competitive prices and achieve financial comprehension. He explained that the conference, including experts and participants, represents an opportunity to learn about the development of financial technology in the world.
