Minister of industry meets Cairo Chamber's Delegation

headed by Engineer Ibrahim AlAraby – the Chamber Chairman in the presence of 

 

Ahmed Alwakeel-head of the General Federation of  Egyptian Chambers of Commerce-, and Alaa

 

Ezz - The secretary general of the Federation, to discuss common matters. The most important of them

 

is the need for completing procedures of building a club and a hospital for traders and redeveloping

 

the conference hall at the Chamber.  the delegation included Mohammad Gharib, deputy chairman of

 

the Chamber, Pasha Idris, assistant Treasurer, and Atef Al-Ashmouny , secretary general.

 

 

 

Al Araby confirmed during the meeting that these projects will provide health and social services to

 

meet the needs of the business community and are considered an essential requirement for capital city

 

traders and the Chamber is seeking for implementing them during the coming period.

 

 

He added that implementing such projects is the development of work within the Chambers of

 

Commerce because they will provide important services for their members in addition to  it will be

 

an important incentive to join a number of street vendors who are working illegally under umbrella of

 

the official trade and finally in favor of national economy.

 

 

He confirmed that the project of private hospital for traders is an extension of health-care project, which

 

has been enforced one year ago and Traders are currently successfully benefiting from it for the second

 

year in the beginning of the New Year. he as well as explained activity of the Chamber during the next

 

phase and the most important projects that currently the  Chamber is seeking for  implementing to

 

develop  the provided services for their members to enable them to face their challenges .

 

 

Mohamed Gharib demanded the Minister of industry and foreign trade for intervening and reviewing

 

the inspection rules which are followed in the Egyptian ports Especially for Chinese imports

 

 

 

Gharib said that any product imported from China currently is subject to inspection in Egyptian ports,

 

despite having certificate of the quality CIQ with Chinese products, but not adopted by Export and Import

 

Control Authority, That cost the importers Excess amounts and consequently added to the final price of

 

products, which means additional burden to consumers and This is not required now in these hard

 

days.

 

 

 

Basha Idris said that the role of chambers of commerce is very important for the development of

 

the national economy because it is the main base for it, so the implementation of these projects must

 

be supported by the Ministry.

 

 

 

He added that the construction of a hospital and Club for traders is very important because they have

 

health and social roles of as well as their development will provide other roles later.

 

 

 

Atef Al Ashmouni  Said  that  the projects  presented by the Chamber to the ministry are

 

Traders' demands, which  are very important  for them  accordingly  The ministry should  facilitate

 

the procedures of these projects.

 

 

 

AlAshmouny demanded that we should overcome the routine procedures to facilitate implementing

 

commercial projects so as to achieve the economic development process, especially  some  projects of

 

the chamber are still undecided with the ministry.

 

 

 

For his part, Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour, confirmed that the ministry is keen to develop Chambers of

 

Commerce to play a key role in the development of internal trade system, pointing to the need for

 

updating its regulations to suit up with rapid changes taking place in the Egyptian market during

 

the current stage.

 

 

 

Abdel Nour referred to importance of improving all services provided to traders through chambers of

 

commerce and the ministry is fully prepared to support the Chambers to help them develop the system

 

of internal trade, which consequently will contribute in facilitating Movement of goods and providing all

 

the needs of consumers at reasonable prices.

 

 

 

Concerning the complaint of a certificate of Chinese imports, the minister said that the ministry will

 

coordinate with Exports and Imports Control Authority to identify the currently used rules in examination

 

procedures for Chinese imports, pointing to the importance of having quality certificates for any

 

commodity imported to protect Egyptian consumers from entering bad goods, that may affect their health

 

and safety.

 

 

At the end of the meeting, the minister called on Chambers of Commerce and all traders to participate in

 

the constitutional  referendum, in the next month as a national duty to achieve stability, contribute in

 

developing the economy and accelerating  development, pointing out that all the productive sectors need

 

this stability, which will come through the Constitution,that regulates the political, social and economic

 

life.
