Honoring The Name Of Mahmoud El Araby During "Egypt Can By Industry" Conference

Egyptian Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs, Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel Shaheed, announced that the name of Haj Mahmoud Al-Araby, founder of the El-Araby Group, will be honored during the activities of the sixth edition of the series of conferences “Egypt Can” under the title “Egypt Can by Industry”, scheduled to be launched on 27-27 March 28th.

 

This honor comes in appreciation of the loyal patriotic role of Hajj Mahmoud El-Araby towards the Egyptian industry over the past decades, which is considered one of the most important symbols of the Egyptian economy in the modern era, and for its honorable history and its important role in the field of national trade and industry, which was able to gain the respect of all.

 

Mahmoud El Araby, the prominent Egyptian businessman – or ‘chief merchant’ as he was commonly described- founder, and chairman of El Araby Group, passed away on September 9, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of a self-made joint stock family enterprise for manufacturing and marketing home appliances and engineering products. Employing 40,000 people, the group’s 2020 turnover grossed EGP 20 billion, at a total market share of 38 percent.

 

The minister said, "The late man combined talent and continuous diligence in the field of commerce and industry, in addition to being a creative leader who was able to instill the spirit of teamwork in everyone who worked with him. Haji Mahmoud El-Araby was also known for his patriotism and his strong love for charitable work, as he established a charitable institution specialized in the work of social responsibility and humanitarian aid.
