The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevin Gamea, agreed to immediately release the cars that had already been registered on the ACI system and obtained an identification number (ACID) after the Industrial Control Authority made sure that the cars referred to meet the ministerial decision regarding the requirements for the release of Incoming passenger cars for trade up to 7 seats other than the driver.

The minister urged car importers to follow the decision in order to prevent repeating the violations and to acquire prior approval from the Industrial Control Department before contracting in order to avoid delays in the release of vehicles.

It's worth noting that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued a decision in early January last year outlining the requirements for the release of passenger cars, which included the presence of approved maintenance centers distributed geographically and with service capacity commensurate with the number of vehicles sold annually in the local market. The supply of basic spare parts is linked to the maintenance schedules published by the manufacturers, which must cover at least 15% of the total number of vehicles.
