Cairo Chamber In The Egyptian-Tunisian Business Forum.And New Investments Between The Two Countries

The Egyptian-Tunisian Business Forum, which was held in the Tunisian capital in mid-May, witnessed a great success, as a number of bilateral meetings were organized between businesspersons "investors - exporters - importers" in the two countries. Two meetings were also held, the first was between businessmen and Mrs. Nayla Nouira El-Kenji, Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy in Tunisia, and the other meeting was with Mrs. Inji Dokki Hanini ,the Director-General of the Agency for the Promotion of Agricultural Investments in Tunisia; To discuss all issues that would increase joint trade and investment cooperation in a way that would raise the status of the two countries in the region.

 

 

This was confirmed by Eng. Sameh Zaky, Vice Chairman of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce participating in the delegation of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce headed by Eng. Ibrahim El-Araby, and a representative of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce.

 

 

The Egyptian side demonstrated investment potentials in Egypt, as well as the need of profiting from free trade agreements with various economic blocs in order for Egyptian products to reach more than 3 billion consumers, according to the Vice-Chairman of the Cairo Chamber. 

 

 

During bilateral talks between businesses on both sides, he pointed out that fertilisers and medical supplies were among the Egyptian products that were discussed, and the Tunisian side stated their wish to import them from the Egyptian market.

 

In addition to the two parties discussed the establishment of investments in Egypt in some sectors, including that a Tunisian investor offered to invest in the cultivation, packaging and export of olive products and transfer his experience to the Egyptian market, especially since Tunisia is one of the largest exporting countries to the world in this field, and the beginning of his investments will be by cultivating 10 thousand acres. With a target of 50 thousand acres.

 

 

He offered to invest alongside another Tunisian investor in the production, packaging, and export of dates, especially that Egypt is one of the world's largest producers, and he will share his Tunisian experience in this sector in all of its details, beginning with how to care for the fruit, reduce wastage, and packaging methods, so that the benefit is mutual.

 

 

There is also an Egyptian investor living abroad who proposed the idea of investing in the prickly pear sector, because of its many benefits as a fruit, and other products are also extracted from it, such as  the extraction of animal feed.

 

 

Zaky concluded that there were many and varied propositions that would increase bilateral economic relations, establish joint investments, and exchange commodities to benefit the markets of the two countries.
