During the Egyptian-Moldovan Business Forum: a memorandum of understanding to strengthen bilateral economic relations

Cairo Chamber of Commerce, headed by Eng. Ibrahim El-Araby, President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, signed with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova a memorandum of understanding during the Egyptian-Moldovan Business Forum, which was organized by the Cairo Chamber on Tuesday 11th of october, to discuss increasing trade and investment exchange between the two countries.

 

 

This came in the presence of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Nikio Popescu, HE Mr. Vladimir Paula - Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Jomina Vadim - HE State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Moldova, and Mr. Krwetor Dmitri - HE the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the accompanying delegation .

 

 

On the Egyptian side, the Vice-President of the Cairo Chamber, Ahmed El-Weisimy and Sameh Zaky, and Major General Salah El-Abd, the treasurer of the Cairo Chamber, members of the Chamber’s board of directors, Yahya Al-Sunny, Ashraf Kheder and Muhammad Mahran, and a large number of members of the commercial divisions and owners of companies in the Chamber attended.

 

 

The protocol was signed by Ahmed El-Weisimy on behalf of the engineer Ibrahim El-Araby, and Sergio Harria, President of the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

 

 

Engineer Ibrahim Ell-Araby stressed that the Egyptian economy is witnessing a great development stage in light of global changes and developments that made Egypt attractive to investments with the support of the political leadership, headed by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, as it is an important door for many global, African and Arab markets,. This makes it a promising market that serves the consumers of these markets.

 

 

El-Araby indicated that Cairo Chamber will provide all data that enhance bilateral relations, attract more investments, and increase the promotion of Egyptian products to contribute to raising Egyptian export rates, according to President Sisi's directives, to $100 billion in the coming period.

 

 

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Nikio Popesciu, called on the Egyptian side to visit Moldova to discuss ways to increase joint trade and investment cooperation during the coming period, noting that Egypt is economically strong, and it is necessary to focus on the two countries’ capabilities to increase economic relations, and the memorandum of understanding between the two chambers should be used to increase bilateral economic relations, in light of the possibility of cooperation in many products such as the food and pharmaceutical industries and other industries .

 

 

Mr. Vladimir Paula, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Moldova, said that we will seek to increase the joint trade exchange between the two countries in the coming period with government support from both sides, and that businessmen in Moldova are interested in importing from Egypt, especially in the field of dried food, and this agreement will support joint cooperation between the two countries.  He pointed out that the tourism sector in Egypt is witnessing a remarkable progressive boom recently, additionally, there are numerous areas of opportunity for collaboration between the two nations, including the food and citrus sectors. Moldova also imports a significant amount of fertiliser, which can be purchased from Egypt following the signing of this memorandum.

 

 

Sergio Haria, head of the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the memorandum signed between the two chambers will be the beginning of increasing the Egyptian-Moldovan economic cooperation and raising the rates of trade exchange between the two countries through increasing cooperation and exchanging visits between members of the two chambers .
