Cairo Chamber Joined CIIE Promotion Conference2024

The Cairo Chamber of Commerce participated, represented by Mr. Sherif Yahya, Vice Chairman of the Chamber, and General Salah El-Abd, the Chamber’s treasurer, along with Mr. Ashraf Khedr, the Chamber’s Treasurer Assistant, alongside several senior Egyptian and Chinese officials, in the promotional conference for the seventh edition of the China International Import Expo, which took place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in Cairo.

 

 

 Mr. Sherif Yahya, in his speech on behalf of Mr. Ayman Ashry, Chairman of Cairo Chamber, stated that Egyptian-Chinese relations have witnessed significant transformation and a new phase of cooperation and strategic partnership recently, noting China's participation in the conference supporting the Egyptian economy held in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2015.

 

 

China announced investments worth $1.8 billion for the implementation of a project in cooperation with the National Electricity Company, and the Ministry of Transport signed contracts with Chinese companies for transportation projects worth $500 million. He added that there is mutual eagerness from both countries to enhance mutual cooperation.

 

 

 Mr. Sherif Yahya emphasized Egypt and China's commitment to enhancing trade and economic relations between them, pointing out the importance of these relations in keeping pace with international, regional, and domestic transformations.

 

 

The Vice Chairman of the Chamber highlighted the importance of Chinese investments in Egypt, focusing on industrial sectors and information technology, emphasizing the incentives and benefits offered by Egypt to foreign investors. He also stressed the importance of the China International Import Expo as a significant platform to enhance trade cooperation between the two countries and an excellent opportunity for Egyptian companies to showcase their products and explore new markets.

 

 

 The speech also reviewed recent developments in economic relations between the two countries, including the establishment of the Egyptian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, official visits exchange, and cooperation in various economic sectors. Mr. Sherif Yahya concluded his speech by expressing gratitude for the invitation to participate in the conference, wishing progress and prosperity for this meeting, and achieving the desired goals of enhancing bilateral cooperation.

 

 

 From the Egyptian side, the conference was attended by General Sherif El-Mawardi, President of the Egyptian Exhibition Authority, Mr. Mohamed Youssef, President of the Egyptian Businessmen Association, Ambassador Magdy Amer, Vice President of the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association, and Mrs. Rasha Mohamed, General Manager of the Egyptian-Chinese Commercial Center in Egypt. From the Chinese side, Mr. Zhang Shuyang, Deputy Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, and Mr. Li Guoqing, Deputy General Director of the China International Import Expo Bureau, participated.

 

 

 The China International Import Expo is an annual event held in Shanghai, China, aiming to promote trade and investment between China and the rest of the world. In its last edition, more than 60,000 companies from 145 countries participated in the expo, and deals worth $420 billion were concluded. This year, it will be held from November 5th to 10th, 2024, at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai under the theme "New Era, Shared Future". Egypt is one of the prominent participating countries in the expo since its inception, seeking to enhance its trade relations with China and attract foreign investments to the country.
