Visit of a delegation of South Sudan to Cairo Chamber

Cairo Chamber of Commerce held a meeting with a delegation from South Sudan in order to discuss ways of cooperation between the two countries and increase the volume of trade exchange. the meeting has been held under the chairmanship of Mrs. / Akila Hijaab Chief Executive of the Cairo Chamber, which pointed out that Egypt has many products can be exported to South Sudan and there are Egyptian investors in various sectors can invest in South Sudan if they are given the opportunity to invest through facilitating procedures and the laws that govern its investment and away of red tape that hinders investment process. She stressed the importance of organizing mutual visits between the two sides in the next period to identify the most important ways which lead to the increase of trade exchange between Egypt and southern Sudan.

 

Engineer Ibrahim Al Araby Cairo Chamber's chairman Said that there are a great opportunity for exporting Egyptian products in various sectors to the market of South Sudan and this process will be searched in the coming period beside studying investment opportunities available in the state of South Sudan, especially that it will have a financial returns because of virgin and fertile land which is ready to receive investments in all fields.

 

He added that business divisions in various activities at Cairo Chamber will discuss needs of markets in southern Sudan to determine the products that can be exported, noting that there is strong demand for Egyptian products in this market.

He also said that after the Sudanese side invited Cairo Chamber to visit their country and find export opportunities and investment on the ground. The Chamber will discuss the visit and the sectors which achieve the greatest benefit for both the Egyptian and the Sudanese and that will be announced after fixing the date of the visit.

 

He pointed to the necessity of participating in exhibitions, conferences and business environment in Egypt and South Sudan to study projects that will help developing relations between the two countries, and help increasing  Bilateral trade, stressing on establishing business and joint economic entities between businessmen in Egypt and South Sudan, which would contribute in the economic integration between the two countries.

 

For his part, brigadier general / Rizk Zakaria Hassan governor of Western Bahr el Ghazal in southern Sudan during the meeting explained that his country needs for the use of Egyptian expertise and South Sudan depends on external markets because of the lack of production and pointed to the need of opening markets for Egyptian products in southern Sudan instead of resorting to mediators and called Cairo Chamber to visit South Sudan and research investment opportunities on the ground.

 

"Ms. / Lillian Rizq -the Minister of Finance and investment in South Sudan Indicated that  the state of South Sudan has many investment opportunities, and in particular in the fields of agriculture, industry, leather, mineral resources and petroleum products, in addition to the existence of good labor And that is confirmed by Mr. / Dean Watt, deputy secretary-general of the Chamber of Commerce in southern Sudan and pointed to the availability of markets and purchasing power in his country because of the presence of oil.

 

She invited Egyptian businessmen to quickly take advantage of investment opportunities in southern Sudan and South Sudan's willingness to offer many facilities to attract investors. She referred that Bahr-el-Ghazal is the second commercial city after Juba with specific features such as exemption from taxes for 10 years for investors and easy access to fertile land suitable for investment
