Report on visit of Vietnamese delegation to Cairo Chamber

Pursuant to the vital role which is carried out by Cairo Chamber of Commerce and its working to promote and increase trade relations, and  economic promotion for increasing investment between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the outside world and finding Appropriate means of communication between Egyptians and foreigners exporters, importers, producers.

For achieving this target,Mr / Rajab al-Attar, Cairo Chamber's secretary general,  engineer / Sameh Zaki, Cairo Chamber's Board member,Mrs. / Akila Hejab Cairo Chamber's Chief Executive, met with  HE Ambassador / Dow tongue Chang Ambassador of Republic of Vietnam,Mr. / Juanj Njuan Duc, Deputy Director of the General Department of Africa and South and West Asia at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam, and Mr. / Pham Ne Quang commercial counselor of the Embassy of Vietnam in Cairo.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. / Rajab al-Attar welcomed Vietnamese Ambassador and expressed his happiness for the visit, which will contribute in increasing the volume of investments and trade exchange between the two countries.

 

He delivered a speech on the Vietnamese delegation expressing his happiness for this visit hoping development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, hoping that the Egyptian goods and artifacts would have great significance in the Vietnamese market and The Egyptian consumers become well acquainted with Vietnamese products.

 

He presented a brief history about the Chamber and traders' activities. Wishing to Cooperate with Vietnamese and working together to establish mutual relations between the two countries and strengthening relations between communities and institutions in Egypt and their counterparts in the Republic of Vietnam, as well as participating in economic and trade fairs and conferences in Egypt and the Republic of Vietnam, and establishing joint trade and economic entities between businessmen in Egypt and the Republic of Vietnam to achieve economic integration between the two countries.

 

HE Ambassador / Dow tongue Chang Ambassador of the Republic of Vietnam in Cairo expressed his happiness for participating in this meeting and expressed his thanks for organize this event in cooperation with the trade and economic office, wishing to achieve more successes and joint cooperation. He delivered speech about the Republic of Vietnam, saying that Vietnam is a large exporter of agricultural products and fish farms, in 2014 Vietnam has achieved revenues of more than 25 US billion Dollar from agriculture and the export of seafood, in 2012 witnessed the highest level of export to Egypt reached to 106 million US dollars in the fields of agriculture and fisheries. He hoped that through this meeting two parties would reach to new proposals to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

He stated that Egypt is the first Arab country initiated to establish bilateral relations with Vietnam, like opening the first commercial service office in Egypt in 1958, he added that the markets in Egypt and Vietnam, from the largest markets. Egypt, and Vietnam enjoys unique economic, political and geographical location featured in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and these markets is good gate for many other markets in the region .

 

He said that Egypt and Vietnam have signed a lot of collaborative agreements in the field of Agriculture, fisheries, etc., stressed the importance of creating an atmosphere of trust and participation between the institutions of the two countries so that they can settle the important problems in commercial issues.

 

He suggested some solutions to increase trade exchange between the two countries such as: -

- Promoting the active participation of companies and attending trade fairs and Investment seminars.

- The two institutions in both countries should create direct links and contacts and not to resort to a third party in doing business.

- The two countries should identify and explore the possibilities of both countries.

- Finally, making Protocol of cooperation between the Cairo Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam to facilitate business activities between the two countries.

Then concluded by wishing that this meeting will be the beginning to achieve fruitful results between the two countries and wished to develop friendly and cooperative relations between them.

Mr. / Rajab al-Attar resumed his speech that there are some exporters are not committed to their covenants toward Egyptian importer, adding that he had imported black pepper from 30 to 70 million Egyptian pounds from Vietnam, which have been rejected by the health offices and because of impurities and residue pesticides. He also suggested establishing inspection offices in Vietnam like all the countries of the world for detecting goods and products that are imported from Vietnam.

 

Mr. / Juanj Duc Njuan made presentation titled "Overview of Vietnam's trade and economic relations with Egypt" included information on:

- Location of Vietnam strategic land amounting to 689,331 KM 2 and the most famous cities.

- GNP, exports and imports of Vietnam in 2013, and Vietnam's international relations

- Vietnam's trade relations with 221 countries and territories and signing 90 different trade agreement with several countries.

- Vietnamese and Egyptian relations:

 Diplomatic relations between Egypt and Vietnam began in September 1963, the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt founded in 1963, while the Embassy of Egypt was established in Vietnam in 1964, in addition to exchanging of delegations and signing of several bilateral agreements between the two countries.

- Trade and volume of exports and imports from Vietnam to Egypt in 2013 and until May 2014, and the most important exports are:

Fish products - fiber of all kinds - pepper - Auto Parts and cashews

The most important imports from Egypt are:

 Textiles and shoes - iron and metals - dairy products, vegetables and fruits

Mr. / Pham Ne Quang commercial counselor of the Embassy of Vietnam in Cairo he said that he is ready to resolve all the problems that could face the Egyptian importers when dealing with the Vietnamese companies. Then Mr. / Rajab al-Attar suggested organizing another meeting with the Ambassador of Vietnam and Commercial Counselor to review all the problems for solving them.

 

At the end of the meeting, Mr. / Rajab al-Attar thanked the Vietnamese delegation for visiting the Chamber and also the Ambassador of Vietnam / Dow tongue Chang thanked the Cairo Chamber's members for warm reception and hospitality and he presented Souvenir Gift for the Chamber, which received it Mr. / Rajab al-Attar, hoping for more fruitful cooperation between the two countries in several commercial and economic fields.
