A number of importers in the Chambers of Commerce demanded Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour, Minister of Industry and Trade, not to apply the resolution issued recently to stop importing Ramadan lanterns at the beginning of April on this season because of contracts ,which concluded  months ago and their financial value has been paid to the external suppliers, confirming that the retroactive application of the resolution will cause them heavy losses and will confuse the market after the contracts that have been concluded in preparation for the next Ramadan.

Eng. Ibrahim Arab Vice-President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Cairo Chamber's Chairman, said that he supports this resolution, which in favor of the country, but the timing is not appropriate with respect to this resolution, especially that there are contracts entered into force by the importers with external suppliers through specifications, prices and agreement on delivery dates since months ago and applying this resolution will cause them significant financial losses.

He added that we should take into consideration all concerned parties, including the public interest, so that he demanded applying this resolution on the coming years, because the Egyptian importers have already prepared for this season

Ahmed Abu Jabal, head of the Division of stationery, and toys at Cairo Chamber of Commerce, also said that the problem after this decision lies in two things : the first contracts concluded by the importers two months ago and amounts were paid ,which means big losses for importers and second how the situation will be in the coming years with the local products.

He added that a local production was bought by a certain category because it was made from sheet iron and does not produce the types of modern children's toys because  this requires machines and certain production lines to be manufactured . this decision will cut provisions of certain commodity  from market ,that people was getting used to it, especially if the local factories are not eligible for this modern product but it could be done from the beginning of next year if local factories tended to produce what local consumers need, especially children.
