Dr. Adel Abdel-Maksoud, head of the Division of pharmacies in the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, said that the domestic market is suffering from lack of medicine because of the continued smuggling operations abroad as well as to the high cost of drug production for the selling price.

Abdel-Maksoud pointed out that the Division will hold a meeting next Wednesday in order to study the problems facing the pharmaceutical market in Egypt, including the lack of medicines crisis, explaining that officials of the Ministry of Health will be invited to the meetings in order to reach solutions, and also contributing in providing markets with medicine in favorable price to the public people with appropriate profit.

He stressed that many of the pharmaceutical companies in the public business sector and the Holding Company for drugs suffer from financial problems affecting the production and increasing losses; which also leads to problems in the production of drugs in the local market and increases the drug shortage crisis.
