Ramadan 2015 and Cairo traders

The form of the economy during the month of Ramadan is different from other months because of economic variables such as increase in the rates of goods consumption and fall in the demand for consumer durables. The most of consumers allocate the greater part of their income for food commodities in addition to the activity of seasonal commodity markets.

 

 

Mr. / Yahya Zananiry , the head of Clothing Manufacturers Association has confirmed that the garment market is suffering from a recession during the month of Ramadan as a result of great demand on  food commodities in Ramadan, but he noted that  the turnout rates during Eid al-Fitr season rises to a nearly 60%.

 

 

In the same context, Mr. / Ahmed Al Zeiny Head of building materials Division at Cairo Chamber of Commerce said that the building materials market is witnessing a state of decline by 30%.

 

 

As for the Yameesh of   Ramadan (dried fruits and nuts) Mr. / Rajab Alattar , Head  of Spices Division at Cairo Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that the main season for nuts  and dried fruits is the month of Ramadan, adding that it was imported about 7,000,089 tons this year, a state of decline by 30% from the previous year, pointing to the existence of high prices ranging from 20% to 40%.

 

 

Mr. / Barakat Safa vice - chief of stationery and toys Division, also predicted great demand rates on buying Ramadan lanterns will not exceed about 60%, pointing out that the importation of lanterns this year's bill did not exceed 7.5 million pounds and there is stability in imported lanterns prices and high prices in domestic lanterns.

 

 

Mr. / Ahmed Shiha Head of Importers Division at Cairo Chamber of Commerce stressed the decline in importing bill of food products by 40% in result of the lack of dollar, expecting that the prices will rise.
