The 8th edition of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders

Barcelona will host 25th, 26th and 27th the most important platform of interchange in the Mediterranean region. The Medaweek2014 under the Slogan under the slogan (Together going further) is considered a meeting point for discussion and integration, a key factor for the social and economic development of the region.

 

This meeting is consolidated as Barcelona and Mediterranean capital as a strategic hub for the region's economies. The aim of the organizers of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders is to participate in the creation of a Mediterranean economic space that helps to promote and realize the aspirations of the region.

 

The 8th edition of the Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders will gather during three days hundreds of entrepreneur’s leaders and policymakers from the private sector in the region, policy authorities and international organizations that will discuss and analyze the Euro-Mediterranean policies, as well as the state economy of the Mediterranean region, focus on the advantages of the Green Economy and the sustainable development, as a main driving force for the economic and social growth of the Mediterranean Region.

 

The Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders is organized by ASCAME, the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Barcelona, the event will boast with the collaboration of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), institution with which ASCAME will sign a Partnership Agreement that ratified the interest of both organizations in promoting the Mediterranean, aim that also share the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed(

 

This year will be developed different forums and workshops which main subject is to deal with Green Economy and sustainable development, as well as the renewable energies and the eco-efficiency, in the framework of the “6th Eco Meda Green Summit”, that include the Mediterranean Solar Forum; the Mediterranean Forum for Economic Intelligence; Medacity; el Global Eco Forum and Meditour: with a special session on green tourism.

 

As well the 2nd Summit of Islamic Finance will be held which is about islamic finances; and education in the 1st Mediterranean Entrepreneurship Forum; the 1st Summit of Free and Special Economic Zones, opening of the Mediterranean Week will be with the 11th North Africa Business Development Forum (NABDF), forum for the economy development in North Africa.

 

In the framework of the Economic Week will also take place the sixth edition of the forum on tourism in the Mediterranean, the main theme will be Lebanon as cultural, historical and tourist destination in the Mediterranean.

 

Over the last 7 editions, more than 10.000 business men and women, governmental entities of the Mediterranean region and representatives of international and regional institutions have met to discuss and promote the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and integration as a core factor for the economic and social development of the Mediterranean region.

 

ASCAME will celebrate on the framework of the Economic Week its XXIII General Assembly which will bring together more than 300 Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Mediterranean and members of the 23 countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The General Assembly defines the general policies and major lines of action of the Association.

 

ASCAME will award during the General Assembly three Social Corporate Responsibility Award (SCR) to Mediterranean enterprises and institutions.
