Withdrawing expired medicines from the market amounted one billion pounds

The General Division of the medicines at the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce announced the start of implementation plan for the withdrawal of expired drugs from the market since last week through a joint committee of pharmacists, the Chamber of drug industry, the Division and Distributors to clean up the market of these drugs under the name of (market-laundering) which amounted to one billion pounds.

 

Dr. Ali Aouf, head of the division,  said that work is continuing in to dispose of  these drugs, which have accumulated over years ago and more than 70% of these drugs  will be   pulled in a period ranging from six months to a year, pointing out that companies were monitored 2% returned items of medicines, which resulted  in the accumulation of a large amount of them , consequently  prompted pharmacists to sell expired medication to gangs specializing in changing production dates for medicines collected from licensed and unlicensed stores before returning them to the same pharmacies with less prices ranging from 50% to 60%.

 

Head of the Division confirmed that the Commission aimed at closing the door of fake drugs from the market, which up to now represented about 10% of the market that will harm the citizens.
