Egypt welcomes providing necessary support to develop industrial sectors in African countries, affirmed Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil.

He further said that Egypt can offer services of technical support to establish and manage industrial areas, a matter that will contribute to increasing trade movement, especially in light of the free trade agreement, which was signed between the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the East African Community (EAC), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The minister, meanwhile, said that establishing logistic centers inside the African continent is crucial to develop joint economic ties for the countries of the African continent.

He also pointed to the possibility of establishing a logistics hub port at Mombasa Port in Kenya not only to develop trade movement between Egypt ad Kenya but also to increase trade movement between the various regional countries, especially Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda and Democratic Congo.

The minister's remarks came during his meeting on Monday 16/11/2015 with a delegation of Kenyan National Assembly’s (lower house) Defense and Foreign Relations Committee, led by committee chairman Ndung'u Gethenji.

The meeting took up trade ties between Egypt and Kenya, which hit 474 million dollars in 2014, including 284 million dollars as Egypt's exports, the minister said.

He underlined the importance of supporting Egypt and Kenya to increase the trade agreement among the three African blocs.

The minister also urged the Kenyan side to dispatch a delegation from Kenyan investors to visit a number of Egyptian industrial areas with the aim of getting acquainted with the available capabilities.

Members of the Kenyan parliamentary delegation, for their part, affirmed keenness on promoting economic ties with Egypt, especially in light of the two countries' membership in the COMESA.

They also said that they seek to increase Kenya's exports from tea and meat to Egypt, especially that Kenya is famous in producing such products.

The Kenyan side also welcomed the idea of benefiting from Egypt's successful experiment in establishing and managing industrial area.
