More than 5000 outlets in provinces to provide goods at reduced prices

Minister of Supply Dr. Khalid Hanafy confirmed that the State works to break monopolies in some commodities to alleviate the suffering of the Egyptian families.

 

He said at a press conference held after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on price control, chaired by Sherif Ismail, the Prime Minister, that the meeting agreed to assemble 5330 outlets deployed in all provinces under one umbrella to provide food commodities in markets and also will open other outlets beside mobile automotive convoys to provide goods in various places of the Republic. Pointing out that a contract on purchasing 800 000 livestock at a price of 50 pounds in consumer cooperatives and also it was agreed with butcher's on providing huge amounts of meats to adjust prices.

 

He added that the ministry also intervenes in poultry problem to ensure the provision in consumer cooperatives and outlets at prices of twenty pounds per kilo as maximum and finding solutions for supplying feed, corn and soybeans for farms at discounted prices.

 

It has also been expanded to provide basic commodities as oil, sugar, rice, beans, dairy, meat, poultry and fish and fixes prices on the State's outlets, plus announced the launch of providing a comprehensive meal priced at £ 30 for a family (4 members) in all outlets.

 

He stressed that in the medium term the Government will establish Logistics zones to eliminate crisis such as Oubour region, which included area for fruits and vegetables, pointing to 1500 locations were determined to open new outlets.
