Cairo Chamber begins its campaign to conserve energy in shops

Cairo Chamber started an intensive campaign for the energy conservation initiative in shops to support the direction of the country towards energy consumption in the coming period. This initiative will be applied to a number of stores and will be soon prevailed.

 

Engineer Ibrahim El Alraby Vice-Chairman of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Chairman of Cairo Chamber said that currently a number of shops were selected to apply the initiative, pointing out that this comes within the framework of the implementation of the State plan to improve energy efficiency and electric energy conservation in all sectors, with the aim of conserving resources.

 

Ali Shoukry   Cairo Chamber's vice chairman said that there are extensive contacts with shopkeepers, affiliated to the Chamber to apply the initiative and within days will be announced that a number of shops will apply the initiative in some streets in downtown. He added that after organizing an educational seminar during the past period, which was attended by Dr. Khaled Hanafy, Minister of supply and internal trade and Maj. Gen. Atef Yaacob, president of the Consumer Protection , officials of improving the energy project , a large number of producers and importers and shopkeepers along with some economists , the Chamber started intensifying its activities for the application of this initiative, especially  some successful experiences in other  countries had shown in this seminar to take advantage of them with clarifying the role of control bodies, including the Consumer Protection Agency in monitoring markets and  activating the ministerial decrees for label energy in electrical appliances.
