France’s ambassador to Cairo Andre Parant said 30 agreements will be signed during French president Francois Hollande’s visit to Egypt next week.

Agreements will be signed regarding relations with the presidency, as well as financial projects and trade contracts.

Parant added that these agreements might change as negotiations on some of the agreements are still ongoing.

The ambassador said it is expected that the two presidents will sign 10 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) in a number of economic fields.

During a press conference Sunday, Parant noted that 60 French businessmen will accompany the president, as well as two or three French ministers.

A meeting will be held between the two presidents on Monday, during which a number of political and military agreements will be signed between the two countries.

On the sidelines of meetings between French and Egyptian businesses on Monday, a number of trade agreements between the two countries in the fields of energy and new energy, vocational training, culture, and tourism will be signed, Parant said.

The ambassador pointed out that the two countries seek to encourage French tourists to visit Egypt and there is interest from both sides to support Egyptian tourism through potential tourism projects.

“There is a desire from both two countries in the development of French investments in Egypt in the coming period,” said the ambassador. “The trade exchange between Egypt and France currently amounts to € 2.5bn annually.”

He noted that France ranks sixth among countries importing to Egypt.

In the same context, Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, held a meeting including Ministers of Housing, Electricity, International Cooperation and transportation to prepare for the French president's visit to Cairo. Ambassador Hossam Alquaouih cabinet's spokesman said the agreements to be signed include France funding for projects in the fields of natural gas and establishing electric power station and solar-powered stations.
