Ahmed Samir, the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry held a meeting with a number of major Danish companies operating in the Egyptian market in the fields of pharmaceuticals, heavy industries, fodder, food industries, transportation, shipping, software and agricultural products.

The meeting discussed, according to a press release issued on Friday, ways to develop the business of Danish companies in the Egyptian market and help overcome the challenges facing these companies.

The Egyptian minister said that his country is keen on coordination and constant communication with companies investing in the Egyptian market, whether foreign or local, to provide all aspects of support necessary to continue their work and facilitate procedures to increase their investments in Egypt, which contributes to encouraging more foreign companies to direct their attention to the Egyptian market.

He emphasized that supporting industrial investments in the Egyptian market is a top priority in the government's action plan.

Samir explained that all economies of the world are still suffering from the economic consequences of the successive global crises related to the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the consequent stumbling in supply chains and rising waves of global inflation.

The minister indicated the government's keenness to continue the customs release of various commodities in Egyptian ports, especially since there is a committee from all concerned authorities in the government that meets weekly to follow up on facilitating the procedures for customs release of these commodities and reducing its time, pointing out that production requirements come at the forefront of the released imports to give a big boost to the production movement.

Samir pointed out that the ministry will arrange meetings for a number of these companies with various officials concerned with the files of transport, shipping, the pharmaceutical industry and investment to discuss ways to facilitate the companies’ work procedures, noting that all government agencies are fully prepared to provide a helping hand to manufacturers and investors in the Egyptian market in a way that contributes to meeting the needs of the Egyptian market, exporting to foreign markets, and providing job opportunities for youth.

Representatives of Danish companies praised the ministry's tireless efforts to support the industrial sector and enhance the business performance environment in the Egyptian market, expressing their aspiration for more facilities in terms of stimulating production and reviewing some legal legislation to keep pace with industry developments.
