Egypt and Austria are mulling ways of pushing forward bilateral cooperation in the fields of transport, manufacturing, and renewable energy, the Spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidency stated on April 27th.

This came on the sidelines of a meeting between the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Federal Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer to discuss bilateral relations.

In addition, both sides reviewed the latest developments of regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Sudan, the Palestinian cause, and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

El-Sisi has accepted an official invitation from Nehammer to visit Austria, with the date of the visit to be determined through diplomatic channels.

Meanwhile, Nehammer had another meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, in which the former praised the great opportunities in Egypt for further expansion of economic relations across many areas, including water management, environmental technology, health, education, and infrastructure.

Officials of Austrian companies expressed their aspiration to pump new investments in Egypt during the near future, while some indicated that they are looking for partners in the Egyptian market.

For his part, Madbouly said that Egypt welcomes Austrian companies wishing to invest or expand in the Egyptian market as a gateway to the Middle Eastern and African markets.

The Egyptian premier briefed the Austrian side on a set of advantages offered by the government to Austrian investors, explaining that Egypt enjoys a strategic location and has access to major regional and international markets through its membership in a number of trade agreements and blocs.
