Trade, Industry Ministry ink MoU with Siemens Egypt on digitalization of Egyptian industry

Egypt seeks to apply the digital transformation mechanisms on the national industry, in preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Kabil said.
 
Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil inaugurated Sunday the exposition and forum organised by Siemens Egypt in Cairo, under the theme “Digital Transformation Technologies and their Effects on Industrial Sectors,” with the participation of some 300 business leaders in both the public and private sectors.
“Egypt seeks to apply the digital transformation mechanisms on the national industry, in preparation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” Kabil said in his keynote speech. 
 
To that end, he added, the ministry has undertaken a series of measures to enhance sustainable industrial development and help address the challenges that would arise from the digital transformation on the industrial sector.
“The Egyptian industry boasts all the qualifying potentials to benefit from the digital transformation technologies,” he noted. “We do not only aspire to fulfill the requirements for the transformation into a digital economy, but also for an effective Egyptian industrial expertise in the Fourth Industrial Revolution both regionally and internationally.” 
Moreover, the minister witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the ministry and Siemens Egypt in the field of industrial modernization and 
The agreement includes improving local industrial skills, upgrading the technical training centers affiliate to the ministry, and offering advanced solutions for the efficient management of industrial zones, namely: Robeiki Leather City, Damietta Furniture City, the plastics industrial complex in Merghem and the Golden Triangle project in Upper Egypt.
