CAIRO – 29 November 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated via video in the eighth Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Diamniadio city, Senegal, on Monday.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and a number of African presidents partook in the meeting.
The forum discussed means of consolidating constructive partnership between Africa and China, including coordination on challenges facing the two sides on the path of economic recovery from the coronavirus implications, Egyptian Presidency Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
During his speech, Sisi highlighted the importance of the forum in enhancing joint solidarity in achieving mutual benefits between the two sides.
Sisi affirmed that economic recovery from the pandemic requires strengthening trade and investment cooperation in a way that benefits all peoples of the continent.
This includes easing the accumulated debts and helping small and medium-sized companies to overcome the economic crisis, Sisi said.
Sisi also affirmed the necessity to complete the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to achieve economic and trade integration.
The Egyptian president highlighted the need to benefit from the experience of the countries that have made great strides in containing the coronavirus pandemic.
Sisi affirmed that climate change and its negative implications is on the top of the challenges that require solidarity, given the negative economic and social consequences of climate change on Africa.
