Egypt to establish EGP 2 bln logistical zone in Dakahlia: Internal trade minister

The logistical zone will be built on an area of 46 feddans and comprise ommercial, administrative, and logistical activities in addition to recreational activities and a hotel, with a total volume of investments amounting to EGP 2 billion.
The project will create 20,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, the minister said in a statement by the cabinet, stressing that they will be offered to the residents of Dakahlia.
The first phase of the logistics zone will include stores, exhibition halls, retail areas, commercial and logistical areas, restaurants, cinemas, parks, bank branches, pharmacies, gymnasiums, auto shows, and hypermarkets at a cost of EGP 1 billion, according to Assistant Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ibrahim Ashmawi.
The first phase of the project is scheduled to be inaugurated by the end of 2022, the statement quoted Ashmawi as saying.
Meanwhile, the second phase will comprise hotels and administrative and commercial offices.
Over the past three years, according to Ashmawi, the Internal Trade Development Authority has offered real investment opportunities, amounting to 21 projects in 14 governorates with investments exceeding EGP 55 billion.
Ashmawi also stressed that the domestic trade activity contributes to 21% of the Egyptian GDP.
