Gamea made the comments at a meeting with her Bahraini counterpart Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani, where they discussed economic relations between the two countries.

Trade between the two countries amounted during the first seven months of 2021 to about $552 million, and mostly involved the exchange of vegetables, fruits, electrical appliances, iron, steel, aluminium, and plastic, according to Gamea.

The minister also pointed out that Bahrain ranks 16th on the list of countries that invest in the Egyptian market, contributing $3.2 billion in finance, construction, industry, agriculture, tourism, communications and information technology.

Gamea stressed that the distinguished political relationship between Egypt and Bahrain is an essential pillar for developing the industrial, commercial and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Al-Zayani, for his part, stressed his keenness to strengthen the bilateral ties with the “sisterly” country of Egypt and lauded the Egyptian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which he said reflects “an honourable image of the Egyptian civilisation and state.”

In August, Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi invited Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to visit Cairo to boost relations between the two countries and address regional developments.
