Egypt, Russia discuss ways to increase trade exchange in agricultural field

Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Elsayed Elkoseir received on Tuesday Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sergey Levin, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss boosting cooperation in the agricultural field between the two countries.
Elkoseir noted that the Egyptian-Russian relations have witnessed intensive coordination and exchange of views, especially in the agricultural field and related activities.
He stressed Egypt’s keenness to enhance joint cooperation in the field of veterinary vaccines, through the Veterinary Serology and Vaccine Research Institute at the Agricultural Research Center, and the Russian Institute for Animal Protection.
He asserted the Russian support for the serum and vaccines industry in Egypt with high and advanced technologies, which contribute to increasing Egyptian production.
For his part, the Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture indicated that Egypt is a key and important partner in the field of commodity exchange, especially agricultural commodities.
He announced appointing an agricultural advisor at the Russian Embassy in Cairo to work with the stakeholders at the Ministry of Agriculture to facilitate the flow of agricultural commodities between the two countries and increase their quantities.
Levin promised to increase the volume of Russian imports of Egyptian potatoes and citrus.
Both sides have also tackled the exchange of experiences in the fields of agricultural research, food quality, risk analysis assessment, and seed production, as well as exchanging experiences in the fields of fish farming and animal production.
