Cairo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is putting the finishing touches to its office in Cairo in preparation for starting local operations next month. The opening of an office in Cairo was officially announced in the presence of Hamilton Mourão, vice president of Brazil, and Nevin Gamea, ministry of the Industry of Egypt, in late September.

Tamer Mansour, secretary-general of the ABCC, said that Egypt is a major partner of Brazil, and one of São Paulo's three top Arab trade partners, as well as the only Arab country to have a free trade agreement with the Mercosur.

“Creating investment opportunities won't happen overnight, but we strive to make it happen for Brazilian investors, and to make the ABCC office in Cairo reliable for establishing local investment plants,” Mansour went on.

The executive added that the Egyptian market has many great investment opportunities for Brazilians, particularly in the food, medicine, logistics and service sectors, as well as technology.

Brazil has also a great potential and promising investment opportunities for Egyptian investors, especially in the infrastructure, hiring, food and service industries, as well energy and electricity sectors, where Egypt has gotten great results over the years.

Michael Gamal, regional director and head of the ABCC office in Cairo, said that the Egyptian office aims at widening and reinvigorating trade relations between the two countries and creating investment opportunities for Brazilians in Egypt and neighboring countries, as well as creating logistics areas for Brazilian products and exploring African markets via Cairo.

He stressed that the office will work for preparing the exporter, importer and investor of the two countries, helping them carry out feasibility studies and long-term investment projects.

The head of the office explained that all the preparations for building a high-skilled team in different sectors and office equipment have been concluded in preparation for the start of operations early next month. The office is located inside the headquarters of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce in the district of El Tagamo El Khames.

He stressed that the administration of the ABCC office in Cairo seeks to make Egypt into a launching point for Brazil to other countries, particularly in the African continent, which has many trade agreements with Egypt, in addition to the historical ties between Cairo and other African countries.
