Egypt’s Sisi, China’s Xi Jinping discuss development of GERD file, bilateral ties

CAIRO- 5 February 2022: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held, on Saturday morning, a mini-summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, discussing aa number of issues of mutual concerns regionally and internationally.
President Sisi is visiting Beijing for the participation in the the opening ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympics upon Chinese President’s invitation.
The two leaders touched on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, including the developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) file, the Palestinian cause and the crises in Libya, Syria and Yemen, Presidential Spokesperson Basam Rady said in a statement.
“They agreed on the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two countries at the bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations and forums, as well as strengthening mutual cooperation in the field of combating terrorism,” Rady said.
“The parties analyzed the results and prospects of business contacts between Belarus and the Dominican Republic, with a focus on the food industry, pharmaceutics, tourism, and joint business events. The parties told each other about the benefits of doing business in the free economic zones in Belarus and the Dominican Republic,” the BelCCI informed.
The BelCCI head also met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Belarus (non-resident) Lotfi Bouchaara.
According to the BelCCI, the parties discussed plans to scale up cooperation between businesses of Belarus and Morocco, a possibility to take part in events in Belarus and Morocco, and to arrange visits of business delegations.
The ambassador conveyed the interest of Moroccan business circles to take part in the third Belarus-Africa Economic Forum that will take place in Cairo in May 2022.
