Egypt, Azerbaijan sign 5 cooperation deals to promote commercial partnerships at 5th joint committee

CAIRO – 25 February 2022: The joint Egypt-Azerbaijan Commission signed five cooperation agreements in the areas of ports, business councils, promotion of commercial partnerships, and small and medium enterprises.

A statement by the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation said the agreements were signed during the Fifth Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Technical, and Scientific Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Arab Republic of Egypt held in Baku.

The Egyptian and Azerbaijani sides signed the protocol of the committee’s fifth session, which covered numerous fields, including investment, trade, industry, health, medical industries, electricity, renewable energy, petroleum, mineral resources, higher education, culture, youth and sports, tourism and antiquities, information technology, agriculture, transportation as well cooperation between the free economic zones of both countries.

The two sides signed a cooperation MoU to enhance cooperation and exchange technical experience in the field of medium, small and micro enterprises.

This is in addition to an MoU on the establishment of Egypt-Azerbaijan Business Council, which aims to support the commercial partnership between the two countries and enhance private sector’s participation in the enterprises.

A memorandum of cooperation between the port of Alexandria and the Port of Azerbaijan to achieve joint benefit, promote relations, and achieve sustainable development between the two ports.

Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Rania El-Mashat emphasized the importance of the outcomes of the fifth session of the joint committee and the protocols signed in various fields.

She highlighted the importance of proceeding with the implementation of the signed protocols to expand and promote joint relations and enhance development between the two countries.

The minister also highlighted the importance of relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan, which extends over decades, as well as their joint committee, which represents a framework for economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
