Madbouli, Bouden chair 17th meeting of Egyptian-Tunisian higher committee

CAIRO – 13 May 2022: The 17th edition of the Egyptian-Tunisian Higher Committee kicked off her on Friday under Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and his Tunisian counterpart Najla Bouden.
Addressing the event, Madbouli said the higher joint committee's meeting comes at a time when the two countries need to join hands and boost solidarity in facing various challenges and ongoing developments in the regional and international arenas.
He reiterated Egypt's full support for all measures that help achieve security and stability in Tunisia and advance the interests of its people.
The Egypt-Tunisia distinguished relations are not limited to their official and governmental level but extend to the popular level, especially in light of the special status that Tunisia enjoys among all groups of the Egyptian people due to many cultural and civilizational considerations, as well as their unity of destiny and common goals, Madbouli said.
Today's meeting confirms the continuation of coherence and cooperation between Egypt and Tunisia in a manner that meets the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and preserves their common interests, he added.
The challenges facing the whole world, as well as our Arab region and African continent, reaffirm the need to deepen coordination and consultation frameworks and advance joint action mechanisms to maximize the interests of the two countries, the Egyptian premier stressed.
He also expressed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's keenness to support Tunisia and its steps towards achieving development and stability, through the road map launched by Tunisian President Kais Saied for economic, political and constitutional reforms.
Egypt is keen to boost cooperation frameworks in various bilateral and regional issues, foremost of which is working towards deepening partnership in the economic, investment, commercial and industrial fields, along with combating terrorism, maintaining regional security and promoting cooperation in addressing illegal immigration, he added.
Egypt is also looking forward to making a leap in investment relations between the private sector and businessmen in the two countries, taking advantage of the agreements and protocols signed in this field, as well as the attractive investment climate in Egypt and Tunisia.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Friday evening toured historical landmarks in Tunis.
The premier's tour came after the Egyptian-Tunisian Higher Committee concluded its activities, Madbouli's media office said in a statement.
Accompanied by Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden , Madbouli started his tour with visiting Kasbah Square, antique markets and historical mosques in the Tunisian capital.
PM Madbouly arrived in Tunis on Thursday to launch the 17th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Higher Committee, which saw the signing of 11 agreements between both nations in several fields, including health, education, agriculture and technology.
