CAIRO - 18 May 2022: The Food Export Council (FEC) has coordinated with the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce to arrange visits by 13 Egyptian companies, taking part in the APAS trade show 2022 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to some of the top wholesale markets in Brazil, the council said.
The show kicked off on May 16 and is expected to last until Thursday.
The companies’ representatives paid on Wednesday a visit to the Santa Rosa market, one of biggest whole wholesale markets for spices, dates, and fresh garlic, where they held several meetings with leading importers who stressed that there are plenty of opportunities for Egyptian products in Brazilian markets, the council added in a statement.
They have also visited CEAGESP market in Sao Paulo, the largest wholesale food market for fresh vegetables in Latin America, the council noted.
Welcoming the representatives of the Egyptian companies, CEAGESP President Ricardo Augusto said some Egyptian companies are already operating at CEAGESP, the third largest wholesale market in the world, especially in the fresh orange sector.
A high visitor turnout is expected this year to exceed 100,000, the FEC said in an earlier statement, noting the Egyptian companies are showcasing various products hoped to tap the Brazilian market, including oils, grains, dates, fruits and vegetables.
APAS trade show is a comprehensive event dedicated to businesses in the supermarket sector, a meeting point where professionals in the sector can network, expand their businesses and get informed about current issues, topics and trends for the sector.
