Egypt’s Trade Ministry Allows Export of Some Surplus Commodities

The Egyptian Minister of Trade Nivine Gamea, issued a resolution, which included allowing the export of the quantities surplus to the needs of the local market of some basic commodities, after the approval of the Ministry of Supply.

The Export Council for Food Industries stated that the decision is a positive development from a complete ban on the goods to a conditional approval of the Ministry of Supply in order to ensure the stability of local markets.

The decision, which will be implemented as soon as it is published in the Egyptian Gazette, included an earlier 3-month ban on exports of both beans, gravel and mashed beans, lentils, pasta, wheat, Flour of all kinds, edible oils of all kinds, grits and corn.
