Egypt-Jordan Trade Exchange Grows 25% to $915.6 Million- CAPMAS

The value of trade exchange between Egypt and Jordan increased to $915.6 million in 2021, compared to $731.7 million, year-on-year, an increase of 25%, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The value of Egyptian exports to Jordan recorded $725.4 million in 2021, compared to $588.9 million, year-on-year, an increase of 23.2%, and the value of  imports from Jordan reached $190.2 million in 2021, compared to $142.8 million in 2020, an increase of 33.2%.

The most important commodity groups Egypt exports to Jordan included mineral fuels, mineral oils and their distillation products with a value of $143.4 million dollars, ceramic products with a value of $54.7 million, machines, appliances and electrical equipments with a value of $47.4 million, fats and oils with a value of $38.1 million, and vegetable preparations worth $34.3 million.

The most important commodity groups that Egypt imported from Jordan during 2021 included fertilizers worth $86.2 million, pharmaceutical products worth $24.2 million, various chemical products worth $11.1 million, coffee and tea worth $6.6 million, and mineral ores worth $6.4 million.

The value of remittances from Egyptians working in Jordan recorded $774.2 million during the FY2020/21 fiscal year, compared to $678.5 million a year earlier, an increase of 14.1%, while the value of remittances from Jordanians working in Egypt amounted to $12.3 million during the FY2020/21, compared to $11.1 million during the FY2019/20, an increase of 11.3%.

The value of Jordanian investments in Egypt amounted to $56.7 million during the FY2020/21, compared to $58.4 million during the FY2019/20, a decrease of 2.9%.

The population of Egypt recorded 103.5 million people in 2022, while the population of Jordan recorded 10.3 million people in 2022.

The number of Egyptians in Jordan, according to the mission’s estimates, reached 920,000 Egyptians until the end of 2020.
